Discover the many different aspects of art journalling with an exciting and adventurous combination of mixed media techniques.  All of the techniques are simple to achieve but they give stunning effects, that can be combined to make unusual and tactile pages to suit your own personal style of art journal.  We will be exploring colour mixing, pattern making with stencils, fabric inclusions, cutting, tearing and layering, illustration, and some interactive pages.

Journal with strong cartridge paper pages. I like Pink Pig and the 8 inch square Hobbycraft sketchbooks
Selection of acrylic paints including a large tube of white
Some thin gloves and an apron if you don't like getting messy
Car sponge, a ruler, eraser and pencil
Selection of brushes including a large one and some thin ones for watercolour
Craft knife, cutting mat, sharp scissors, a darning needle and a medium sewing needle
Signo Broad Gold and Silver gel pen
Selection of fine line black pens such as Edding or Uni Pin
Some small pieces of Calico fabric, a few pieces of white and black card

Paula Watkins has been a textile and mixed media teacher, author, illustrator and exhibiting artist for 30 years. She enjoys using unusual, beautiful and vintage items with simple techniques to create artwork which combine texture, intricate details and surprising combinations of materials. She travels the UK, India and Europe to teach and to lead textile tours. Paula is a treasure hunter and she loves sharing her finds from around the world to help her learners to make stunning artwork.
