People Portraits with Coloured Pencil
Tutor: Jonathan NeweyCourse Code: 0320-04

Summary

This is a two day course that will show you how to achieve the texture, colour and character of people using coloured pencils (crayons). Using photos supplied and after tracing down the outline you will be shown how to shade and colour mix with the pencils, how to blend, texture and burnish the colour.

Description

Skills and techniques learnt will include overlaying colours, shading in a particular direction, creating form with light and dark, how to draw hair and how to work on white and brown paper. By the end of the weekend you will have produced two drawings.

This is an ideal course to learn how to draw people portraits with coloured pencil. Each exercise will be demonstrated by the tutor step by step and the course will be run in a friendly, non pressured environment where the tutor will be on hand to encourage and inspire. Ideal for beginners and people with some knowledge of the medium. This course is an ideal stepping stone to other courses run by Missenden School of Creative Arts where you could develop your drawing skills further.
