Botanical Illustration: Spring Tulips and BulbsCourse Full
Tutor: Jill WinchCourse Code: 1023-02

Learn how to use your waterproof pens and watercolour pencils to produce beautiful botanical illustrations. This two day course will focus on producing drawings using the wonderful spring tulips and bulbs. Jill likes to create a friendly group atmosphere while also offering individual guidance where needed.

Watercolour pencils are interesting to use, the colour can change quite drastically when water is added.  You have the added advantage of being able to use the pencils in a dry form as well as using water with them.  You can also choose to have a light wash of colour or a much heavier colour wash.  Using the waterproof pens with these pencils adds an extra interest … use again either lightly with a fine 0.05 or a much heavier line 0.5 … also in a choice of colours, Black, Sepia and Grey.  Lots of techniques to discover, so look forward to an enjoyable two days of learning with pen and colour … and the effects they create!

Jill is an award winning published botanical artist.  She is a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and regularly exhibits at their annual exhibition in London.  She tutors from her studio at home and demonstrates her work for art groups around the country.  She has held art holidays in Tuscany, Ireland and locations in England.  More recently, Jill has had two books published: Painting Flowers and Drawing Flowers.  Both are a step-by-step guide to achieving success in either pencil and pen and ink work and also watercolour and coloured pencils.
Jill shares her discipline with lots of demonstrations, as a group and also with individuals. This enables students to not feel out of their depth and she is happy to tutor all, from the beginner through to the more experienced. Jill has always had a love of drawing and when she was approached and asked to write and illustrate a book on Drawing Flowers, she happily accepted. This book can be bought now combined with her second book Painting flowers in colour.
